Diontae Johnson Goes For 117 Yards In Playoff Loss

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson turned in a big game in a 48-37 playoff loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Johnson caught 11 of 16 targets for 117 yards in the contest, finishing second on the team in receiving. The second-year wideout took a huge step forward in 2020 and is lined up to repeat his success in 2021 with teammate JuJu Smith-Schuster likely to leave as a free-agent. Johnson's arrow in fantasy is pointing straight up and he should be treated as a borderline WR1/WR2 come draft season this summer.

Diontae Johnson A Strong Option In Wild-Card Round

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson was one of the most-targeted pass-catchers during the 2020 season, finishing eighth in the league with 144 targets. The Steelers' No. 1 receiver draws a plus matchup against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday night in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. Cleveland's defense struggled against the pass during the regular season, ranking 25th in pass-defense DVOA and allowing the eighth-most fantasy points per game to the wide receiver position. Treat Johnson as a top-eight option for fantasy playoff contests for the slate of games this weekend.

Diontae Johnson A WR3 In Week 17

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson found the end zone for the seventh time of the season in a Week 16 win over the Indianapolis Colts. He draws a plus matchup against the Cleveland Browns to finish off the regular season but he sets up as a risky play in fantasy. Pittsburgh has already wrapped up the AFC North division title and has little motivation to risk an injury to their key players in Week 17. They have already announced that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will not play, meaning Johnson will catch passes from Mason Rudolph. The rest of Pittsburgh's starters, Johnson included, are at risk of not playing the entire game. Fantasy gamers should treat Johnson as a mid-range WR3 for Week 17.

Diontae Johnson Scores In Week 16

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson turned in a solid game in a 28-24 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 16. Johnson wound up catching eight of 14 targets for 75 yards and a touchdown in the comeback victory. His score came on a 39-yard pass from Ben Roethlisberger in the third quarter on a play where he laid out for a diving catch down the right sideline. Johnson continues to be heavily targeted and is locked in as a WR2 in fantasy. He will face the Cleveland Browns in Week 17.

Diontae Johnson A WR2 In Week 16

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson is in the middle of a solid run for fantasy managers, having seen at least 10 targets in six of his last seven games. Clearly established as the top option in the Pittsburgh passing attack, Johnson draws a tough matchup against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 16. Indianapolis ranks sixth in pass-defense DVOA and is allowing the 11th-fewest fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers. Thanks to a projected large target share, Johnson can be used as a low-end WR2 in fantasy for his Week 16 matchup.

Related: Diontae Johnson

Diontae Johnson Scores In Week 15

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson caught eight of 13 targets for 59 yards and a touchdown in a 27-17 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 15. Johnson was on the receiving end of Ben Roethlisberger's lone passing touchdown when he hauled in a 23-yard pass in the third quarter. Johnson did appear to injure his foot during the second half but was able to return to the game shortly after getting checked out on the sidelines. Roethlisberger's favorite target in the passing attack, Johnson will be on the WR2/WR3 borderline in Week 16 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Related: Diontae Johnson

Diontae Johnson A Low-End WR2 In Week 15

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson certainly didn't do much to instill confidence after getting benching for almost the entire first half of last week's loss to the Buffalo Bills due to his ongoing issues with drops. Johnson will look to bounce back, and hold onto the football, in Week 15 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Cincinnati represents a decent matchup for Johnson as they rank 29th in pass-defense DVOA and are allowing the 16th-fewest fantasy points per game to the wide receiver position. Fantasy gamers can start Johnson as a low-end WR2 in Week 15.

Related: Diontae Johnson

Diontae Johnson Struggles With Drops In Week 14

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson struggled with drops in a 26-15 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 14. Johnson dropped two passes early in the first quarter of the game and was benched for the remainder of the half in favor of James Washington, who went on to catch a touchdown. Johnson returned to action after halftime and wound up finishing with four catches for 40 yards in the loss to Buffalo. The drops in Week 14 continue a concerning trend as Johnson has struggled to hold onto the football this year, which has been a blemish on an otherwise impressive breakout season. Fantasy gamers are surely disappointed in his Week 14 performance but he is worth trusting again in Week 15 in an excellent matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Related: Diontae Johnson

Diontae Johnson A WR2 In Week 14

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson continues to be peppered with targets this season. The second-year wideout has seen double-digit targets in eight of 11 games played, although he hasn't been terribly efficient, catching just 61.3% of those targets. Johnson draws a difficult matchup as he will take on the Buffalo Bills on the road in Week 14. Buffalo has been good against wide receivers this season, allowing the 10th fewest fantasy points per game to the position. On the plus side, Johnson is expected to see primary coverage from Levi Wallace, and not shutdown corner Tre'Davious White, which is a bonus. Treat Johnson as a solid WR2 in Week 14.

Related: Diontae Johnson

Diontae Johnson Scores In Week 13 Loss

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson turned in a solid game in a 23-17 loss to the Washington Football Team in Week 13. Johnson led the team with 12 targets, catching eight of them for 71 yards and a touchdown in the loss. The second-year wideout came through for fantasy managers in what was a tough matchup against the Washington secondary. Johnson continues to be peppered with targets in the Pittsburgh offense, seeing double-digit targets in five straight games. Easily Pittsburgh's No. 1 wide receiver, he will remain a quality fantasy option in Week 14 when he takes on the Buffalo Bills.

Related: Diontae Johnson

Diontae Johnson A WR2 In Week 13

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson sets up as a WR2 in fantasy for his Week 13 matchup against the Washington Football Team on Monday evening. Johnson continues to be targeted heavily by Ben Roethlisberger, having seen double-digit targets in each of his past four games. Washington's secondary has been tough on wide receivers this season, ranking third in pass-defense DVOA and allowing the second-fewest fantasy points per game to the position. That being said, Johnson's high target share keeps him in the conversation as a WR2 in fantasy, despite the tough matchup.

Related: Diontae Johnson

Diontae Johnson Catches Eight Balls In Win

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson caught eight of 13 targets for just 46 yards in a 19-14 win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 12. With the game taking place almost a week after it was originally scheduled thanks to a COVID-19 outbreak on the Ravens, Johnson looked out of sorts for much of the afternoon. He dropped several catchable balls, including a possible touchdown on a slant a few yards in front of the Baltimore goal line. Despite the uneven effort, Johnson will remain a solid fantasy play in Week 13 against the Washington Football Team.

Related: Diontae Johnson

Diontae Johnson A WR2 Versus Ravens

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson has been trending upwards in recent weeks, having topped 100 receiving yards in two straight games. Now fully healthy and re-established as Ben Roethlisberger's No. 1 wide receiver, Johnson will be a strong play in fantasy against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 12's Thursday night game. The Ravens have been tough against wide receivers this year, allowing the fifth-fewest fantasy points per game to the position but Johnson should still get enough volume on Thursday night to finish as a low-end WR2 for fantasy.

Related: Diontae Johnson

Diontae Johnson Posts Second Straight 100-Yard Game

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson caught 12 of 16 targets for 111 yards in a 27-3 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 11. Johnson has now topped 100 receiving yards in two straight contests as he has reasserted himself as the team's No. 1 wide receiver. The second-year wide receiver now has at least six catches in four of his past five games with his 12 grabs on Sunday going into the books as a career-high. Johnson will remain a solid fantasy option in Week 12 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Related: Diontae Johnson

Diontae Johnson A WR2 In Week 11

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson finds himself in an excellent spot heading into Week 11. The Steelers will take on a Jacksonville Jaguars Defense that has really struggled to stop opposing passing offenses this season, ranking 31st in pass-defense DVOA. Johnson has been Pittsburgh's clear No. 1 wide receiver whenever he has been healthy this season and has drawn double-digit targets in three of his past four contests. Johnson can be trusted as a high-end WR2 in fantasy this weekend.

Related: Diontae Johnson

Diontae Johnson Leads Steelers In Receiving In Week 10

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson caught six of 11 targets for 116 yards and a touchdown in a 36-10 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 10. Johnson brought in a 46-yard reception in the game while his score came on a 12-yard pass from Ben Roethlisberger. The second-year wide receiver has remained healthy over the past few games and has re-established himself as the team's No. 1 wide receiver along the way. He will be a must-start in Week 11 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Related: Diontae Johnson

Diontae Johnson A WR2 Against Cincinnati

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson draws a plus matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 10. Now fully healthy after dealing with assorted nagging injuries throughout the season, he will go up against a Cincinnati pass defense that has allowed a wide receiver touchdown in all but one of their contests this season. The receiver room in Pittsburgh is crowded but Johnson has operated as the team's No. 1 wideout whenever healthy this season. Fantasy gamers can start him as an upside WR2 in Week 10.

Related: Diontae Johnson

Diontae Johnson Goes For 77 Yards In Week 9

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson caught six of 10 targets for 77 yards in a 24-19 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9. Johnson got off to a slow start in the game but ripped off a 42-yard gain in the second half to buoy his numbers. The second-year wideout finished second on the team in targets and receiving yards in the close win. More importantly, Johnson appeared to emerge from the win without injuring himself, which has been a rare occurrence this season. He will be a solid fantasy play in Week 10 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Related: Diontae Johnson

Diontae Johnson Has Upside In Week 9

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson managed to catch just one pass for six yards in his team's Week 8 win over the Baltimore Ravens. He spent some time during the first half in the blue medical tent but was able to return and finish the game without any trouble. While Johnson has dealt with assorted injuries throughout the season, he has also operated as the No. 1 wideout in Pittsburgh in the games when he has been at full health. He draws an excellent Week 9 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9 as Dallas is allowing the sixth-most fantasy points per game to the wideout position this year. Shake off Johnson's slow Week 8 and keep him active for this weekend's game.

Related: Diontae Johnson

Diontae Johnson Catches One Ball In Week 8

Injuries

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson caught one of three targets for six yards in a 28-24 win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 8. He left briefly during the first quarter to get his hamstring checked out but he wound up returning to action by the second quarter. It is hard to say whether the injury played into Johnson's slow performance but he was the odd man out as JuJu Smith-Schuster led Pittsburgh in receiving and Chase Claypool scored a touchdown. Provided Johnson's hamstring checks out, he will be a fabulous play in Week 9 against the Dallas Cowboys. Be sure to monitor his participation in practices next week.
