Chase Claypool Catches Two TDs On Seven Targets

General

Pittsburgh Steelers rookie wide receiver Chase Claypool turned in a big game in a 48-37 loss to the Cleveland Browns in the wild-card round of the playoffs on Sunday night. Claypool caught five of seven targets for 59 yards and two touchdowns in the loss, giving him a total of 13 touchdowns in his rookie season. Claypool is teed up to have a huge 2021 season with pending free-agent JuJu Smith-Schuster not expected to re-sign with Pittsburgh. If JuJu does in fact leave, it will vacate 128 targets, many of which will be redistributed to Claypool. Expect him to be a much-hyped asset once the fantasy draft season starts up this summer.

Chase Claypool A Solid WR2 In Wild-Card Round

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool turned in a big game against the Cleveland Browns in Week 17, turning in five catches for 101 yards and a touchdown in the season finale. He figures to be a problem for the Browns again this weekend when the two sides face off in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. Cleveland's pass defense struggled during the regular season, allowing the eighth-most fantasy points per game to the wide receiver position. Treat Claypool as a high-ceiling WR2 for fantasy playoff contests this weekend.

Chase Claypool A Shaky Flex In Week 17

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool will be without his quarterback in Week 17 as the team will rest veteran Ben Roethlisberger against the Cleveland Browns. Instead, Claypool will catch passes from quarterback Mason Rudolph. Pittsburgh having Rudolph under center downgrades the entire passing attack in a game that does not hold much meaning for the Steelers, who already have the AFC North title wrapped up and can't overtake the Kansas City Chiefs for the No. 1 seed in the AFC. Treat Claypool as a low-end flex option against a Cleveland defense that is fighting for a playoff spot and will be plenty motivated in Week 17.

Chase Claypool Catches Four Passes In Week 16

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool turned in a slow outing in a 28-24 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 16. Claypool finished with four catches for 54 yards while being held out of the end zone for the fifth straight game. The rookie's performance comes as a disappointment on an afternoon where the Steelers attempted 49 passes. Overall, Claypool's rookie season can be considered a success, although he hasn't done much to help gamers in the fantasy playoffs. He will take on the Cleveland Browns in Week 17.

Chase Claypool A WR3 Versus Colts

General

After exploding on the scene early in his rookie season, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool has been slowed down in recent weeks. The rookie wideout is in the middle of a four-game scoreless streak as he winds down his first NFL campaign. Claypool draws a tough Week 16 matchup as he will face off against an excellent Indianapolis Colts Defense at home. Indianapolis ranks sixth in pass-defense DVOA and is allowing the 11th-fewest fantasy points per game to the wide receiver position. Fantasy gamers can treat Claypool as a boom/bust WR3 for the championship round of the fantasy playoffs.

Chase Claypool Catches Three Passes In Week 15

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool caught three of eight targets for 54 yards in a 27-17 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 15. Claypool turned in a quiet first half, losing six yards on a rushing attempt on his lone touch before halftime. He came back to make some noise in the third quarter, ripping off a 37-yard gain on a short screen. Claypool came close to scoring in the game, getting one hand on a high pass in the end zone, but he ultimately couldn't haul the ball in for the catch. The rookie will be a WR3 in Week 16 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Chase Claypool A WR3 Vs. Bengals

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool has been quiet of late, having caught just five passes for 53 yards over his past two games while carrying a three-game scoring drought. After a red hot start to the season, Claypool seems to have fallen to third in the wide receiver pecking order behind Diontae Johnson and JuJu Smith-Schuster of late. He does draw a plus matchup against a Cincinnati Bengals Defense that ranks just 29th in the league in DVOA against the pass. Claypool did also enjoy success against them the last time these two teams met, catching two touchdowns in Week 10. Fantasy gamers should treat the rookie as a solid WR3 in Week 15.

Chase Claypool Quiet In Week 14 Loss

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool was quiet in a 26-15 loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 14. Claypool caught just three of six targets for 15 yards in the loss. The standout rookie has been trending down of late, although the entire Pittsburgh offense struggled to get much going against a resurgent Buffalo defense. Claypool remains a threat to score multiple touchdowns anytime he's on the field as one of the team's favorite targets in the red zone. The rookie will have an excellent chance to bounce back in a plus matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 15.

Chase Claypool A WR3 Against Bills

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool will take a two-game scoreless drought into a tough Week 14 matchup against the Buffalo Bills. The rookie wideout will look to get back into the end zone against a Buffalo secondary that has been stingy to opposing wide receivers, allowing the 10th-fewest fantasy points per game to the position. To make matters worse, Claypool has the toughest cornerback matchup of the Pittsburgh receivers as he will see primary coverage from shutdown force Tre'Davious White. Fantasy gamers can still start Claypool but he should be treated more as a mid-range WR3 than the high-end WR2 that he has been for much of the year.

Chase Claypool Misses Practice Thursday Due To Illness

Injuries

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool (illness) was absent from Thursday's practice, putting his status for Sunday's game against Buffalo up in the air. Claypool's usage (44 percent of the team's offensive snaps) took a sharp downturn last week versus Washington, making him a risky play in Week 14 even without any illness concerns. Should Claypool ultimately be held out, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Diontae Johnson, James Washington, and Ray-Ray McCloud would all stand to benefit from an increase in targets, even while facing off against a solid Bills Defense. Check back over the coming days to get updates on Claypool's status as they become available.

Chase Claypool Quiet In Week 13 Loss

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool caught just two of four targets for 38 yards in a 23-17 loss to the Washington Football Team in Week 13. It goes down as a disappointing outing for the breakout rookie on an evening where Ben Roethlisberger attempted 53 passes. Of course, it didn't help matters that Roethlisberger averaged just 5.8 yards per attempt. Claypool now has eight catches for 90 scoreless yards over his past two contests. He will look to find his way back to the end zone in Week 14 against the Buffalo Bills.

Related: Chase Claypool

Chase Claypool A WR2 Vs. Washington

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool draws a tough Week 13 matchup against the Washington Football Team. Washington's defense has been tough on opposing passing attacks this season, ranking third in pass-defense DVOA and allowing the second-fewest fantasy points per game to the wide receiver position. That being said, Claypool has shown a nose for the end zone this season, having scored 10 total touchdowns in 11 games. He will be safe to treat as a low-end WR2 in Week 13.

Chase Claypool Catches Six Balls For 52 Yards

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool caught six of nine targets for 52 yards in a 19-14 win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 12. With the two teams playing on Wednesday, nearly a week after the game was originally scheduled, Claypool wound up finishing second on the team in receiving behind only Eric Ebron. Despite a crowded receiver room in Pittsburgh, the rookie wideout has put together an impressive season for the Steelers. He will be facing off against the Washington Football Team in Week 13.

Chase Claypool A Solid Play In Week 12

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool continues to take the league by storm in his rookie campaign. Claypool has scored 10 total touchdowns in the first 10 games of his career, emerging as one of Ben Roethlisberger's favorite red-zone targets. The Steelers face off against the Baltimore Ravens in the Thursday night game in Week 12. Claypool will have his work cut out for him against a Baltimore secondary that is allowing the fifth-fewest fantasy points per game to the wide receiver position. That being said, Claypool has shown that he is a multi-touchdown threat any time he takes the field. Treat him as a low-end WR2 for his game on Thanksgiving night.

Chase Claypool Scores 10th TD

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool caught four of eight targets for 59 yards and a touchdown in a 27-3 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 11. Claypool and Ben Roethlisberger connected for a 31-yard score in the second quarter, giving Claypool 10 total touchdowns in his impressive rookie season. While Claypool continues to find the end zone often, he hasn't topped 74 receiving yards since back in Week 5. That has made him a bit touchdown-dependent in fantasy, of course that hasn't been an issue thanks to his frequent trips to the end zone. Claypool will be a strong fantasy option in Week 12 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Chase Claypool A Low-End WR2 In Week 11

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool has certainly impressed in his rookie season, having found the end zone nine times in nine games. The rookie wideout has a good shot at improving those numbers in Week 11 against a shaky Jacksonville Jaguars pass defense. Jacksonville's pass defense ranks just 31st in the league in DVOA and is allowing the ninth-most fantasy points per game to the wide receiver position. The Pittsburgh receiver room is crowded but the Steelers have shown that they can support three wideouts in fantasy most weeks. Treat Claypool as an upside WR2 this weekend.

Chase Claypool Scores Twice In Week 10

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool caught four of 10 targets for 56 yards and two touchdowns in a 36-10 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 10. The rookie receiver got off to a slow start in the game but he came to life in the second half, catching both of his touchdowns after halftime. Claypool now has found the end zone nine times in nine games in his debut season. He will be a solid fantasy play in Week 11's plus matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Related: Chase Claypool

Chase Claypool A Solid Flex Option In Week 10

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool led the team in receptions and targets in a Week 9 win over the Dallas Cowboys. He will look to stay hot in Week 10 against the division-rival Cincinnati Bengals at home. Claypool has been slowed a bit of late as NFL defenses pay more attention to him but he still has weekly touchdown upside in a quality Pittsburgh offense. The Bengals have allowed a touchdown to an opponent wide receiver in all but one game this season, making all of the Pittsburgh pass-catchers quality fantasy options. Treat Claypool as a low-end WR2/high-end WR3 for Week 10.

Related: Chase Claypool

Chase Claypool Finishes With 13 Targets

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool caught eight of 13 targets for 69 yards in a 24-19 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9. Claypool's 13 targets and eight catches led the team while he finished third in receiving yardage behind JuJu Smith-Schuster and Diontae Johnson. The only complaint is that the rookie didn't find the end zone but he has still carved out a large role in the team's passing attack. Claypool will be a strong fantasy play in Week 10 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Related: Chase Claypool

Chase Claypool A WR2 Against Cowboys

General

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool has impressed thus far in his rookie season, having found the end zone seven times in seven contests. Claypool will look to score again in Week 9 in a road matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. Dallas' secondary is unlikely to offer much in the way of resistance as they are allowing the sixth-most fantasy points per game to the wide receiver position this season. Claypool can be trusted as a low-end WR2 for Week 9.
