Week 18 IDP Preview

Welcome to the IDP Weekend Preview. As is tradition around the IDP Corner of the site, Week 18’s IDP Weekend Preview is a chance to try some things out for next year. Behold, the newer, slimmer Beta-test version of the IDP Weekend Preview

Note: Please check COVID lists carefully on Sunday. Things are changing so rapidly. Remember that Inactive lists won’t show players on the COVID list.

KC @ Den

GAME HUB (for injuries, weather, pace, and matchup notes)

Game Notes:

KC Needs a win for playoff seeding. Denver is done and will be missing Pat Surtain, Ronald Darby, and Kareem Jackson, as well as backup CB Nate Hairston.

Targets:

Bryce Callahan (CB, Den)

P.J. Locke (S, Den)

Baron Browning (LB, Den)

Avoids:

Tyrann Mathieu (S, KC)

Dal @ Phi

GAME HUB (for injuries, weather, pace, and matchup notes)

Game Notes:

Dallas may rest some starters, despite what HC Mike McCarthy says, and Philly has several players on the COVID list and is out of contention. Thus, this is a tough game to trust anyone.

Targets:

T.J. Edwards (LB, Phi)

Avoids:

DeMarcus Lawrence (DE, Dal) — I don’t see them using their veteran pass rusher much in this game.

Pit @ Bal

GAME HUB (for injuries, weather, pace, and matchup notes)

Game Notes:

Both Pittsburgh and Baltimore can still make the playoffs, and this is an early game, so you can expect this to feel like an actual football game.

Targets:

Patrick Queen (LB, Bal)

Brandon Williams (DT, Bal)

Tony Jefferson (S, Bal)

Joe Schobert (LB, Pit)

Minkah Fitzpatrick (S, Pit)

Avoids:

Odafe Oweh (OLB, Bal) — Hasn’t practiced all week. If he plays, I doubt it’s much.

Cin @ Cle

GAME HUB (for injuries, weather, pace, and matchup notes)

Game Notes:

Long story short, this will look like a preseason game. I’m not comfortable starting many IDPs at all. Cincy should rest their starters and Cleveland is also planning on resting players.

Targets:

M.J. Stewart (CB, Cle) — looks like John Johnson and Ronnie Harrison are both still banged up, so why would they play much if at all?

Avoids:

Pretty much everyone else.

GB @ Det

GAME HUB (for injuries, weather, pace, and matchup notes)

Game Notes:

Green Bay is resting starters. Detroit is in “next year” mode.

Targets:

Krys Barnes (LB, GB) — He and Oren Burks should get heavy reps at LB.

Derrick Barnes (LB, Det) — They’re likely going to use this game to continue evaluating him for next season.

Avoids:

Pretty much everyone else.

Ten @ Hou

GAME HUB (for injuries, weather, pace, and matchup notes)

Game Notes:

Tennessee is playing for the #1 seed and after getting whooped by Houston a month ago, they’re likely not taking this game lightly. All systems go here.

Targets:

Kamu Grugier-Hill (LB, Hou)

Jonathan Greenard (DL, Hou)

Avoids:

None of note.

Ind @ Jax

GAME HUB (for injuries, weather, pace, and matchup notes)

Game Notes:

The Colts need a win to make the playoffs, so start your Indy IDPs. It looks like Myles Jack is back. He should be seeing a lot of Jonathan Taylor.

Targets:

Darius Leonard (LB, Ind)

Bobby Okereke (LB, Ind)

Myles Jack (LB, Jax)

Khari Willis (S, Ind)

Avoids:

None of note.

Chi @ Min

GAME HUB (for injuries, weather, pace, and matchup notes)

Game Notes:

The Vikings are supposed to be playing their starters, so start your Minnesota IDPs.

Targets:

Eddie Jackson (S, Chi)

Avoids:

Mackenzie Alexander (S, Min)

Was @ NYG

GAME HUB (for injuries, weather, pace, and matchup notes)

Game Notes:

This could be a preseason game as well. There’s a chance that the Giants will be in full-on evaluation mode as they prepare to search for a new GM.

Targets:

Xavier McKinney (S, NYG)

Avoids:

Use any of these IDPs at your own risk.

Sea @ Ari

GAME HUB (for injuries, weather, pace, and matchup notes)

Game Notes:

I’m expecting this to be a full-starter game for both sides. The Cardinals need a win and the Seahawks want to win.

Targets:

Ugo Amadi (S, Sea) — Amadi should fill in for Ryan Neal (COVID list)

Cody Barton (LB, Sea)

Avoids:

None of note.

NO @ Atl

GAME HUB (for injuries, weather, pace, and matchup notes)

Game Notes:

New Orleans can still make the playoffs with a win, so treat their IDPs as usual.

Targets:

Foyesade Oluokun (LB, Atl)

Cameron Jordan (LB, NO)

Avoids:

None of note.

NYJ @ Buf

GAME HUB (for injuries, weather, pace, and matchup notes)

Game Notes:

Buffalo can clinch the AFC East and improve their seeding with a win. They will play their starters and so should you. Robert Saleh has known the Jets weren’t making the playoffs for weeks (probably longer than that) and he’s shown no signs of resting anyone. After a few DNPs, C.J. Mosley got a full practice in and is ready to go.

Targets:

Quincy Williams (LB, NYJ)

Harrison Phillips (DT, Buf)

Avoids:

None of note. But I’m leary of volume for the Bills IDPs. The Jets' offense might not be on the field a ton.

SF @ LAR

GAME HUB (for injuries, weather, pace, and matchup notes)

Game Notes:

Both teams should be a full-go as a win for each team helps their playoff picture.

Targets:

Greg Gaines (DE, LAR)

Avoids:

Azeez Al-Shaair (LB, SF) — Dre Greenlaw might be healthy enough to play this week, Plus, Al-Shaair is officially questionable, but he hasn’t practiced all week. And of course, this is a late game, so that’s fun.

Taylor Rapp (S, LAR)

NE @ Mia

GAME HUB (for injuries, weather, pace, and matchup notes)

Game Notes:

Most of your starters should play in this game on both sides of the ball. Kyle Dugger is out, which is big.

Targets:

Adrian Phillips (S, NE)

Zach Sieler (DT, Mia)

Avoids:

None of note.

Car @ TB

GAME HUB (for injuries, weather, pace, and matchup notes)

Game Notes:

Tampa Bay could still improve their seeding if they win and the Rams lose, so they’ll be in it to win it. Carolina is another story.

Targets:

Joe Tryon-Shoyinka (OLB, TB)

Kevin Minter (LB, TB)

Avoids:

Derrick Brown (DE, Car)

LAC @ LV

GAME HUB (for injuries, weather, pace, and matchup notes)

Game Notes:

This game likely has the most drama of the week (as evidenced by its move to SNF), so expect this to be a full-time game for your IDPs. Drue Tranquill is questionable but got a full practice in, so I’d use him as an LB4.

Targets:

Divine Deablo (LB, LV)

Dallin Leavitt (S, LV)

Avoids:

None of note.
