4 Key Takeaways

1. Drake Maye or Jaxson Dart — will the real Exodia QB please stand up?

Drake Maye — the original Exodia QB — is living up to the hype. He’s currently the QB5 in fantasy, averaging 21.4 FPG.

In Week 7, Maye had as many passing touchdowns as incompletions (2), while adding a season-high 62 rushing yards. He’s now recorded a triple-digit passer rating in six straight games, eclipsing 135.0 in four of them (twice as often as any other QB).

Since Week 2, he ranks top-3 in nearly every efficiency metric:

  • Passer rating: 126.4 (2nd)

  • ANY/A: 9.00 (3rd)

  • CPOE: +14.4% (1st)

  • Highly Accurate Throw Rate: 64.1% (3rd)

  • Catchable Throw Rate: 84.0% (1st)

  • Off-target Throw Rate: 9.0% (1st)

I don’t have much to add — this is awesome. Maye has a legitimate shot at MVP.

If we can be nitpicky, he is running a bit less than I expected. New England brass spent all offseason promising us more designed runs for Maye, but there are currently 33 QBs with more fantasy points on designed runs than Maye. Unless Maye starts running more (like he did last week), he might have better odds of winning MVP than finishing top-3 at the position in FPG.

As great as Maye’s been for my fantasy teams, I might be even more excited about Jaxson Dart, who has been sitting on my bench (behind Maye) in a great number of my fantasy leagues. And if adjusting for the differential in supporting cast, Dart’s 2025 season might be just as impressive as Maye’s MVP-caliber run.

Without Malik Nabers or Darius Slayton, Dart’s current WR1 is Wan’Dale Robinson (who hit 75 yards only three times in his first three seasons), and his WR2 is Lil’Jordan Humphrey (who was on the practice squad just a few weeks ago). Legitimately, this is probably the worst receiving corps in all of football, and his offensive line hasn’t been much better — Dart has been pressured on 45.1% of dropbacks, the 2nd-highest rate among 34 qualified QBs.
