My goal with this article is very simple: I’m trying to isolate players whose values — both perceived and in reality — will be shifting in the near future. I’m always looking ahead, always looking for opportunities to buy or sell every week after I watch all the games, scan all the data, and examine all the schedules.
It’s hard not to list some of the more obvious entries, but I try to think both outside and inside the box, so I’ll sometimes stray from my logical approach and come out of left field every once in a while with a recommendation. Whatever it takes to find an edge in the trade market.
PLAYERS TO TRADE FOR
Jayden Daniels (QB, Was) — There are currently some shaky QBs sitting in the QB1 range in terms of top-12 scoring, most notably Caleb Williams and Daniel Jones. But while Jones might finish as a QB1, he’s a matchup guy, and Daniels is matchup-proof. Even if Daniels misses another game, he should be worth trading for with a really nice run of matchups starting Oct 13: vs Chi, at Dal, at KC, vs Sea, vs Det, and at Mia.
Derrick Henry (RB, Bal) — There’s always risk in buying low on an aged RB, especially a massive one like Henry, since the big guys tend to fall off a cliff. But Henry looks fine, and his OL is intact, and is a different cat, so I’m looking at the bad vibes in Baltimore as a buying opportunity. Let’s not forget that Henry in his career has traditionally been more productive in the second half of the season in colder weather and often poor conditions. But he also has a remaining schedule that suggests he could get rolling very soon. They are: vs Hou, vs LAR, vs Chi, at Mia, at Min, at Cle, vs NYJ, vs. Cin, vs. Pit, at Cin, vs NE, and at GB. In Green Bay Week 17 could be tough, but then again, he could crush on the frozen tundra. Otherwise, there’s a ton of potential volume on paper given the multitude of bad teams/defenses they’re set to face. I asked our AI tool “Ball Knowledge” who I could trade for Henry, and I thought our tool gave a good answer:
For the record, I’d love to be able to move Breece Hall and like a Quentin Johnston overachieving type for Henry.
