Week 5 Streaming DSTs

In Week 4, our top two streaming DSTs went #3 and #10. Offenses continue to dominate defenses so far, but there’s still value on those waiver wires.

Let’s dive into this week’s streaming options. As always, we’re looking for under 50% rostered in Yahoo! leagues.

Arizona Cardinals (Ari, 49%) @ NYJ

After starting the season off a much-improved defense, the Cardinals fell apart against the Panthers in Week 4, allowing 31 points while failing to register a sack. Nothing helps a defense shake off a bad game like a match against the un-feated Jets. The Jets give up the most FPG to DSTs through four games, averaging 14.5 points against, and giving up 12 sacks, 4 INTs, and 2 TDs. Look for Arizona to get back to their 3-4 sack/15-20 points allowed ways in Week 5.

Dallas Cowboys (Dal, 25%) vs. NYG

I just referred to this Cowboys D as “Downy-soft” in an earlier article, and if you didn’t already know what kind of year this is, here I am recommending them for a streaming option. The very movable Dallas D meets the very stoppable Giants O. The Cowboys are getting healthier though, as DeMarcus Lawrence’s knee is getting better and Trevon Diggs - who has been battling a shoulder injury that has affected his play - is on the mend. They also made an important change mid-game in the secondary, as Donovan Wilson replaced a struggling Darian Thompson. But really, this is all about targeting the 2nd most fantasy-friendly offense in the league. The Giants have surrendered 14 sacks, 5 INTs, and 3 lost fumbles, while only scoring a league-worst 11.5 points per game.

Miami Dolphins (Mia, 1%) @ SF

The Dolphins have had to start the year facing Cam Newton and the Patriots, Josh Allen and the Bills, and Russell Wilson and the Seahawks. The only non-dominant offense they’ve faced was the Jaguars, and they held them to 13 points while hanging 4 sacks and an INT on them. This week they’ll face a 49ers team that might be led by Nick Mullens (Jimmy Garropolo was still extremely limited at the end of last week’s practices) that gave up 5 sacks and scored just 20 points against a mediocre Philly defense. Miami’s D has posted 9 sacks, 2 INTs, and 3 fumble recoveries through four games. If Jimmy G sits, the Miami D starts.
