Eagles Trends

  • Record: 4-1 (3-2)

  • Jalen Hurts has thrown for multiple TDs in three straight games, but he ran just twice after reaching 9+ carries in each of his first four games. He completed 23/38 passes for 280 yards (7.4 YPA) and 2 TDs, adding only 2/3 rushing against the Broncos. He’s reached 19.4+ FP four times in five tries. The Giants deploy the second-highest rate of man coverage (42.7%), and he averages 7.58 YPA with 5 TDs and a 128.6 passer rating on 43 attempts against man. New York gives up the ninth-most passing YPG (249.2), but they’ve allowed QBs to account for multiple TDs just once. Hurts posted 114/1 passing and 7/22/2 rushing in his lone matchup against the Giants last season.

  • A.J. Brown’s painful start to the season continued in a tough matchup against Patrick Surtain and the Broncos. He turned in 5/43 receiving on 8 targets (21%) and an 84% route share. He’s failed to reach double-digit FP in four of his first five games. The Giants deploy the second-highest rate of man coverage (42.7%), and he averages 2.40 YPRR and .40 TPRR on 40 routes against man. The Giants give up the 10th-most receiving YPG (118.6) and the 16th-fewest YPRR (1.93) to receivers aligned out wide. Quentin Johnston (8/98/1 receiving) and George Pickens (5/68/1) posted 17.8+ FP in this matchup in the last month. Brown posted 5/89/1 receiving in his lone matchup against the Giants last season.

  • DeVonta Smith logged his first 100-yard game against the Broncos, finishing with 8/114 receiving on 10 targets (26%) and a 96% route share. He’s reached 19.4+ FP twice and has fallen below double-digit FP in his other three games. The Giants deploy the second-highest rate of man coverage (42.7%), and he averages 2.09 YPRR and .21 TPRR on 43 routes against man. New York allows the most receiving YPG (97.4) and the 14th-fewest YPRR (1.58) to receivers aligned in the slot. Chris Olave posted 7/59 receiving in this matchup last week. Smith posted -2 receiving yards on 2 targets in his lone matchup against the Giants last season.

  • Dallas Goedert has scored 4 TDs in his last three games, and he needs just one more score to match his career-high of 5 TDs, which was set back in 2019. He posted 3/19/1 receiving on 8 targets (24%) and 71% route share against the Broncos. He’s reached 10.3+ FP in each of his first four games. The Giants deploy the second-highest rate of man coverage (42.7%), and he averages .77 YPRR and .23 TPRR on 26 routes against man. The Giants give up the seventh-fewest receiving YPG (37.2) and just 7.4 YPR to TEs after limiting Juwan Johnson to 2/17 receiving last week.

  • Saquon Barkley’s tough start as a runner continued in Week 5, posting 6/30 rushing and 3/58/1 receiving for 17.8 FP against the Broncos. He’s caught 3+ passes in four of his first five games, but he’s yet to hit 100+ scrimmage yards in any game. Barkley is averaging 1.137 YBCo/ATT and 1.84 YACO/ATT to start this season after averaging 3.55 YBC/ATT and 2.26 YACO/ATT last season. The Giants give up the seventh-most adjusted YBC/ATT (2.21), 5.6 YPC, and the eighth-most rushing YPG (106.6) to RBs. Omarion Hampton posted 12/128/1 rushing and 5/37 receiving in this matchup two weeks ago. Barkley recorded 17/176/1 rushing and 2/11 receiving in his lone matchup against his old team last season.

Giants Trends

  • Record: 1-4 (2-3)
  • Jaxson Dart accounted for multiple TDs and 18.6+ FP in each of his first two starts. He completed 26/40 passes for 202 yards (5.1 YPA), 2 TDs, and 2 INTs in Week 5, adding 7/55 rushing in the loss to the Saints. The Eagles generate pressure on 40.5% of dropbacks, and Dart’s YPA (5.56>4.57), passer rating (100.1>44.9), and CPOE (+5.1%>+1.7%) fall from a clean pocket to when he’s pressured. The Eagles give up the 12th-fewest passing YPG (220.4) to QBs after Bo Nix posted 242/1 passing and 3/22 rushing against them last week.
  • Darius Slayton had the opportunity for a pair of long connections in a Week 5 loss to the Saints, but he settled for just 3/31 receiving on 6 targets (15%) and a 75% snap share before leaving with a hamstring injury. Beaux Collins stepped into his spot with a 7-yard reception on 3 targets (8%) and a 38% snap share, while Jalin Hyatt failed to catch any of his 3 targets (8%) on a 47% snap share. The Eagles allow the seventh-most receiving YPG (122.6) and the 13th-fewest YPRR (1.88) to receivers aligned out wide
  • Wan’Dale Robinson collected 5/30 receiving on 7 targets (18%) and an 89% route share in a loss to the Saints, adding a 2-yard carry for 8.2 FP. He’s failed to clear 30 receiving yards and 8.2 FP in three consecutive games. Philly allows the fewest YPRR (.84) and the second-fewest receiving YPG (39.4) to receivers aligned in the slot. Troy Franklin posted 3/35 receiving in this matchup last week. Robinson posted 6/23 and 10/43 receiving in two games against the Eagles last season.
  • Theo Johnson has reached double-digit FP in back-to-back games thanks to scoring 3 TDs against the Chargers and Saints. He posted 6/33/2 receiving on 7 targets (18%) and an 82% snap share for 21.3 FP in Week 5. Johnson is living off of touchdown production at the moment, as he’s averaging only 6.6 YPR and 4.7 YPT through five weeks. He’s at least leading the Giants in first-read share (26.2%) the last two weeks without Nabers. The Eagles give up the third-fewest receiving YPG (28.2) and the sixth-fewest receptions per game (3.8) to TEs. Evan Engram posted 4/33/1 receiving in this matchup last week, which was the most FP (13.3) the Eagles have allowed this season.
  • Cam Skattebo has reached 13+ FP in four consecutive games and 90+ scrimmage yards in three straight games, with Tyrone Tracy nursing a shoulder injury. He turned in 15/59 rushing and 6/45 receiving for 15.4 FP against the Saints. He paced Devin Singletary in snap share (69%>31%), carry share (52%>21%), and route share (50%>28%). Tracy could return to action this week, so we’ll see how much work he can pry away from Skattebo. The Eagles give up the 14th-most adjusted YBC/ATT (1.91), the 10th-most rushing YPG (97.6), and the eighth-most receiving YPG (41.0) to RBs. Kyren Williams grinded out 20/94 rushing and 2/18/1 receiving in this matchup in Week 3.
