Data Charter Notes: 2025 NFL Week 7

For a massive undertaking like Fantasy Points Data, we need a large team of dedicated and educated charting professionals to ensure that we can get statistics posted on the website both accurately and quickly.

While the data-charting process is, by nature, objective, our team will obviously form opinions about what they saw, given that we have to watch every play multiple times.

Every week, we’ll select the most notable observations and back them up with the objective data we’ve become known for.

Here are our top observations for 2025 NFL Week 7.

Week 7 Data Charter Observations

1. “The Denver offense needs to take a long, hard look in the mirror and realize that there is something to their four-minute offensive production. The Broncos are making a habit out of playing slow and boring, and then having to turn it on in the fourth quarter to mount a comeback, and that is when this offense, and more importantly, Bo Nix are at their best.”

On a day where Denver commemorated WR Demaryius Thomas, the Broncos pulled out a wild 33-32 comeback win over the Giants. After struggling to produce in the first three quarters, QB Bo Nix threw 2 touchdowns while running in two more scores in the fourth quarter en route to 327 total yards and 4 total touchdowns on the day. The issue for Nix has been his accuracy this season as he ranks near the bottom of the league in ACC% (53.1%, 25th), CATCH% (70.3%, 30th), and OFF% (19.9%, 29th). He needs to clean up his accuracy to get this offense in gear for a full four quarters.

The Broncos’ running game continues to be an area that Nix can lean on as RB JK Dobbins turned in another productive day with 81 yards on 14 carries. Dobbins currently sits at 7th among RBs in rushing yards with 523 while owning a 52.3% success rate in zone concepts and a 49.2% success rate in man concepts. The Broncos have a great opportunity to assemble a complete game on offense as they host the Cowboys, who have struggled defensively this season.

2. “The case for Philly returning to dominance in 2025 is leaning on Jalen Hurts and his arm. Hurts has arguably the best deep ball in the NFL, reminiscent of prime Russell Wilson in Seattle. The way he can drop a dime into the bucket is incredible. We saw this in the Super Bowl, and we are seeing this in the last few weeks as they lean more on the pass game. If the Eagles can get more creative in the pass game, Hurts can prove a ton of doubters wrong.”

After losing their previous two games, the Eagles got back in the win column with a 28-22 victory in Minnesota over the Vikings. QB Jalen Hurts turned in his best performance of the season with 326 passing yards and 3 touchdowns on 19 of 23 passing. For all of the negative press aimed at Hurts this season, he has now thrown for 280+ yards in three straight games with a 6:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Hurts’ deep passing is on another level over that span as he has completed 11 of 20 passes for a league-leading 427 yards and 4 touchdowns on throws of 20+ yards downfield.

Hurts’ success has come at the expense of the Eagles’ run game. RB Saquon Barkley is averaging a lowly 3.3 yards per carry this season and has not crossed 60 rushing yards in a game since Week 2. Barkley’s lack of success can primarily be attributed to the Eagles’ offensive line struggling to open up running lanes, as Barkley is averaging 1.21 YBCO/ATT after averaging 3.55 YBCO/ATT last season. The Eagles will have a shot at redemption in Week 8 in a home matchup against the Giants, who beat the Eagles back in Week 6.

3. “Rashee Rice was eased back in on snap share and used almost entirely underneath, running a steady diet of screens and underneath routes. This helps the offense function as an extension of the run game and allows the other WRs more opportunities to run intermediate and deep routes. Defensive players are more prone to jump routes and focus on the dynamic YAC guy now that he’s back.”

The Chiefs improved to 4-3 on the season following a 31-0 demolition of the Raiders in Week 7. WR Rashee Rice made his much-anticipated return following a season-ending knee injury last season and six-game suspension to start this season. Rice finished the game with 7 catches on 10 targets for 42 yards and 2 short touchdowns while running mostly shorter routes. In the game, Rice ran 17 routes, with only three coming on vertically breaking routes, leading to a super low aDOT of 1.7.

QB Patrick Mahomes was methodical with 286 yards and 3 touchdowns on 26 of 35 passing against the Raiders. Mahomes continued to utilize the Chiefs’ run-after-catch ability with 58.0% of his yards coming after the catch and currently ranks 7th in YAC% at 54.3% on the season. Mahomes and company have a prime matchup on Monday Night Football against a Commanders’ defense that has allowed the 5th most passing yards (1,788) so far this season.

4. “Joe Flacco with a renaissance game for the ages. The Steelers had no answer for the Bengals passing game. I wouldn’t even say Flacco was absolutely ripping throws and looking like the player he was 10 years ago. The Steelers coverage was just completely awful. Jamarr Chase consistently roasted 1-on-1’s and got lost in coverage numerous times. Even when the Steelers doubled, Flacco read the defense and hit Andre Iosivas deep downfield in single coverage. Flacco definitely gives the Bengals hope, but I would temper expectations and chalk this up as just a terrible game from the Steelers’ defense.”

Week 7 kicked off with Bengals’ newly acquired QB Joe Flacco turning back the clock and leading the Bengals to a 33-31 win against the Steelers. Flacco went off for 342 yards and 3 touchdowns, while leading a game-winning drive to seal the victory. In his second game with the Bengals, Flacco understood the assignment by dialing up 33 combined targets to top WRs Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, including a whopping 23 to Chase. All told, Chase posted 16 catches,161 yards, 1 touchdown, and a 0.255 ASS while Higgins posted 6 catches, 96 yards, 1 touchdown, and 0.048 ASS. Flacco gets a revenge game next week as the Bengals host the struggling Jets in Week 8.

5. “Perhaps the Cowboys’ record discounts him a little bit, but you can’t have an MVP conversation without Dak Prescott. He came in with 10 touchdowns in the last three games without CeeDee Lamb, and now Lamb was back for this one, and the offense as a whole hit a whole new dimension. George Pickens on the outside, Lamb all over the field, and Jake Ferguson underneath.”

The Cowboys offense kept rolling in Week 7 with a 44-22 win over the NFC East rival Commanders. With star WR CeeDee Lamb returning after a three-game absence, QB Dak Prescott continued his MVP-caliber season to the tune of 264 passing yards and 3 touchdowns, giving him 13 touchdowns to 0 interceptions over the last four games. For the season, Dak ranks top 5 in passing yards (1,881), passing touchdowns (16), ACC% (62.5%), and CATCH% (81.1%).

CeeDee Lamb showed no signs of rust with 5 catches for 110 yards and 1 touchdown while posting a great 0.267 ASS, but it’s his teammates who make this passing offense even more dangerous. With Lamb commanding so much attention, WR George Pickens continued his excellent season with 4 catches for 82 yards, while TE Jake Ferguson hauled in 7 catches for 29 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Cowboys have a strength-on-strength matchup as they travel to Denver to take on the Broncos in Week 8.

6. “This was the best Christian McCaffrey has looked this season, as he was constantly bursting into the 2nd level and breaking tackles. His volume has been incredible this season, and improved efficiency like he had in this matchup would be a huge boost for the team down the stretch. The San Francisco OL just bullied the Atlanta DL. It was a work of art the way the 49ers were able to seal their double-team blocks, push the DL back 2-3+ yards, and break off the double-team to seal off linebackers at the 2nd level. I swear to you if McCaffrey had just a little bit of his old juice, he could have gone for 200+ rushing yards.”

The 49ers got back on track with a 20-10 win over the Falcons in Week 8 on the back of another big game from RB Christian McCaffrey. CMC continues to defy his injury past with another 31 touches for 201 total yards and 2 touchdowns. Week 8 was easily CMC’s best rushing performance as he carried the ball 24 times for 129 yards, while showing better explosiveness (8.3% EXP RUN%) and elusiveness (0.21 MTF/ATT) compared to the first six games of the season. The return of TE George Kittle helped the 49ers improve CMC’s YBCO/ATT from 1.18 in the first six games to 2.54 in Week 7. The 49ers will look to keep their run game rolling in Week 8 in a difficult matchup against the Texans’ 10th-ranked run defense.

7. “Jahmyr Gibbs was easily the best player on the field on Monday Night. He has another gear that most running backs just don’t have. When he hit the second level on the long touchdown run, you knew Antoine Winfield had no chance at catching him in the open field. He had another catch where I thought he was gone, but Penei Sewell missed a block deep downfield that it looked like Gibbs wasn’t ready for, and he ended up getting tackled. He did end up finishing that drive with a touchdown, but Gibbs is a highlight waiting to happen in the open field.”

The Lions leaned on RB Jahmyr Gibbs on their way to a 24-9 win over the Bucs in Week 7. Gibbs could not be stopped as he ripped off 136 yards and 2 touchdowns on 17 carries with another 82 receiving yards on 3 catches through the air. The Lions did a great job in getting Gibbs in space, where he was a menace for the Bucs defense, as he forced an insane 11 missed tackles for the game. The Lions OL also deserves credit after guiding Gibbs to 5.71 YBCO/ATT against a Bucs’ defense that has surrendered an average of 1.68 YBCO/ATT in 2025.

WR Amon-Ra St. Brown, to no surprise, is having a great season with 6 catches for 86 yards and 1 touchdown in Week 7. ARSB has been nearly uncoverable as he ranks 7th in ASS with a score of 0.152. The Lions enter their bye week with a record of 5-2, and before matching up with the Vikings at home in Week 9.

Bonus Observations
  • Patriots RB TreVeyon Henderson — It could be over for TreVeyon Henderson. He barely played in this one and appears to be completely buried in the doghouse. He totaled 2 uninspiring carries and didn’t see a single target. Meanwhile, Rhamondre Stevenson looked good while playing the vast majority of the snaps. Henderson played just 9 snaps in Week 7 and was largely a non-factor in the gameplan.

  • Cardinals WR Marvin Harrison — It didn’t show in the boxscore but Marvin Harrison was frequently getting open against the Packers secondary, usually against Nate Hobbs. I think the offense benefited from Jacoby Brissett playing on schedule and making a couple of beautiful throws. MHJ only caught two passes for 58 yards but did post an excellent 0.293 ASS in Week 7.

  • Raiders QB Geno Smith — Is it time to move on from Geno or shake up the play calling? Las Vegas leads the league with 10 interceptions, is at the bottom of the league in 3rd down conversions, and has one of the lowest rushing yards per game with an average of 56 yards per game. Something has to give! The Raiders managed only 95 total yards and 3 first downs against KC.
