For a massive undertaking like Fantasy Points Data, we need a large team of dedicated and educated charting professionals to ensure that we can get statistics posted on the website both accurately and quickly.
While the data-charting process is, by nature, objective, our team will obviously form opinions about what they saw, given that we have to watch every play multiple times.
Every week, we’ll select the most notable observations and back them up with the objective data we’ve become known for.
Here are our top observations for 2025 NFL Week 6.
Week 1 Data Charter Observations
1. “The Chiefs still aren’t taking a lot of deep shots, but their offense looks much more functional than it did almost all of last year. Patrick Mahomes has been using his legs so well to buy time and put defenders in conflict, and then is able to quickly flip the ball if a defender bails to play the scramble. Even if they aren’t threatening vertically, the return of Rashee Rice to this offense will give another YAC option who can stretch the field horizontally, which has really been the key to unlock this offense.”
Faced with another prime time matchup against the Lions, the Chiefs emerged victorious in a 30-17 win in Week 6 to even their record at 3-3. QB Patrick Mahomes reminded everyone why he is always an MVP candidate with 257 passing yards and 3 touchdowns to go along with 32 rushing yards and another touchdown on the ground. Mahomes ranks near the middle of the pack in aDOT at 8.0 (14th), and deep throw rate at 11.7% (15th), but to combat that, Mahomes ranks 8th in YAC% at 53.6%. Overall, Mahomes is up to 6th in the league in passing yards at 1,514 and t-5th in passing touchdowns at 11 touchdowns.
Chiefs’ pass catchers TE Travis Kelce, WR JuJu Smith-Schuster, and WR Marquise Brown all have registered over 100 yards after the catch so far this season. Enter WR Rashee Rice (192 YAC in three games last season), who is coming back from suspension this week, and the Chiefs will have a stable of after-the-catch mavens at Mahomes’ disposal. The Chiefs host the Raiders in Week 6, whose defense ranks 15th in passing yards allowed (231.8).
2. “Atlanta’s offense was rolling here. Motion almost every play; Bijan Robinson was everywhere; fun use of the TEs with the Falcons down two WRs. Drake London was open intermediate and deep, and looks like a legit WR1. This offense felt creative and simplistic, and Michael Penix is great from a clean pocket. This Atlanta team has looked elite at times and abysmal at times this season. They’ll be fun to watch.”
The Falcons improved to 3-2 following a dominant 24-14 win over the Bills on Monday Night Football. RB Bijan Robinson exploded for 238 total yards, including a highlight reel 86-yard touchdown to give the Falcons a 21-7 lead in the second quarter. Bijan has really taken a major step forward this season as he ranks 2nd in yards per game (96.8), 4th in explosive yards (180), 1st in MTF/ATT (0.29), and 1st in YACO/ATT (3.70). He is looking every bit of the elite player Falcons fans were hoping for in 2025.
Not to be outdone, WR Drake London turned in his best performance of the season to the tune of 10 catches for 158 yards and 1 touchdown. London nearly scored a second touchdown, but stepped out of bounds just before crossing the goal line. QB Michael Penix has been dialed into London the past two games by looking London’s way on 21 first read targets and 43.1% target share overall. The Falcons square off with the 49ers on Sunday Night Football next week in what could be a high-scoring affair.
3. “Words are failing to contextualize the greatness that is Baker Mayfield. There is no better underdog story than what we have witnessed the last few years in Tampa, and this year, it’s all coming together. This is what you get when Baker has comfort in the scheme, confidence in himself, and most importantly, the coaches. You are getting the Mamba Mentality in-game, along with a Spartacus Warrior in the 4th quarter as he wages war on some crazy comeback/game-winning drive, followed up by post-game comedy gold that should earn him a future spot on Saturday Night Live. If you need motivation in life, just throw on some Baker tape.”
In a battle of two 4-1 teams, the Bucs pulled out a 30-19 win over the visiting 49ers in Week 6. Despite being down his top three WRs, Bucs’ QB Baker Mayfield threw for 256 yards and 2 touchdowns on 17 of 23 passing. Mayfield has inserted himself into the MVP conversation with 1,539 passing yards and a 12:1 TD-to-INT ratio so far through 6 games. The confidence that Mayfield is playing with can be seen in the fact that he leads the NFL in hero throw rate at 7.7% and ranks 6th in deep throw rate at 14.4%. He simply isn’t afraid to let it rip and give his receivers a chance to make a play.
With star rookie WR Emeka Egbuka leaving the game early and WRs Mike Evans and Chris Godwin missing this game, the Bucs spread the ball around to multiple targets. WRs Kameron Johnson, Sterling Shepard, and Tez Johnson along with TE Cade Otton all posted at least 45 receiving yards, while all seeing target shares above 13.0%. All four pass catchers will need to step up next week as the Bucs travel to Detroit for a matchup on Monday Night Football with the Lions.
4. “Cam Skattebo runs with such violence and reckless abandon. He had multiple runs on which he collided with a defender and delivered serious punishment. There was one run in the second half where he sent Zach Baun flying to pick up extra yardage. His playstyle seems to rub off on his teammates, as you can see Jaxson Dart looking for contact rather than sliding and saving himself from a hit. Skatt just changes the entire attitude of the Giants' offense.”
Week 6 kicked off with the Giants upsetting the Eagles in a massive 34-17 win for the Giants. Rookie RB Cam Skattebo erupted for 110 total yards and 3 touchdowns on 21 touches with multiple angry runs, highlighted by forcing 6 missed tackles in the run game. Skattebo’s running style has paved the way for him ranking 4th in MTF/ATT at 0.24 while also leading to him averaging a healthy 2.76 YACO/ATT.
Fellow rookie QB Jaxson Dart seems to be trying to replicate Skattebo’s running style as he has run for 50+ yards in all three of his starts so far this season. His passing output hasn’t fully clicked yet as he is averaging 169.3 passing yards per game, but he has been pretty accurate with a 81.2% catchable ball rate. The Giants face another major test next week, with a matchup against the Broncos on tap.
5. “Maye is excelling with a very underwhelming supporting cast. The attention he is drawing from the defense —every eye is on Maye — means receivers are getting lost in coverage. He is figuring out how to manipulate the defense with his eyes and create throwing windows.”
Patriots’ QB Drake Maye continued his breakout season by leading the Patriots to a 25-19 win over the Saints in New Orleans. Maye got his deep passing going in Week 6 en route to throwing for 261 yards and 3 touchdowns with no interceptions. After focusing more on short and intermediate throws in the first five games, Maye attacked the Saints downfield with his aDOT, deep throw rate, and hero throw rate all jumping to 11.8, 23.1% and 7.7% respectively in Week 6. It’s promising to see Maye show off his deep throwing ability after showing a more conservative approach in prior weeks. Maye and company have two more easier matchups against the Titans and Browns the next two weeks before taking on the NFC South brass in the Falcons and Bucs in the subsequent weeks.
6. “Aaron Rodgers is turning back the clock and finding his rhythm with Pittsburgh. Rodgers has been pulling off some of those vintage throws and wicked ball placement that have truly made him a Hall of Famer. In Week 6, Rodgers capped the blowout win with a 10% Hero throw rate and zero turnover-worthy throws. DK Metcalf got loose for a couple of big catches and almost had another bomb that was underthrown, as new Browns’ CB Tyson Campbell looked like a player who opposing WRs will feast on.”
With divisional opponents reeling, the Steelers took a 2.5-game lead in the AFC North following a 23-9 victory over the Browns. QB Aaron Rodgers turned in another efficient performance, completing 70.0% of his passes on his way to 235 passing yards and 2 touchdowns. Since Week 3, Rodgers ranks 6th best in hero throw rate (5.3%) while having the 8th fewest turnover-worthy throws (1.3%). Not only is he hitting some of these vintage throws, but the ball placement is magnificent even when it’s not a “Hero Throw”. Rodgers ranks 9th in catchable throw rate at 80%. All huge jumps from his Weeks 1 and 2 performances, where he owned a 73% catchable throw rate, ranked 27th in Hero Throws (1.6%), and owned the 8th highest TWT% (4.8%).
With over 200 more receiving yards than any other Steeler on the season, WR DK Metcalf turned in another excellent game with 95 receiving yards and a score on 4 catches. Metcalf got open at will in Week 6, registering an ASS of 0.231 (11th best in Week 6). The Steelers have a wonderful matchup as they take on the Bengals’ 31st-ranked pass defense.
7. “Sam Darnold continues to air it out, throwing deep shots to Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and utilizing play-action to create those plays down the field. 4 of the 5 passes Darnold threw 20+ yards were off play-action, and they use their multi-TE sets to their advantage to create blocking advantages and really enhance the threat of the run to get those looks. JSN is a bona fide star. He looks unguardable at every level.”
The Seahawks got back in the win column after heading into Jacksonville and coming out with a 20-12 win over the Jaguars. WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba turned in another masterful game with 8 catches for 162 yards and 1 touchdown in what was his best game of the season so far. JSN has been nothing short of spectacular this season, leading the NFL in receiving yards and on a legendary efficiency pace with 4.61 YPRR. It comes as no surprise that JSN ranks second in ASS with a score of 0.223.
QB Sam Darnold deserves plenty of credit for JSN’s monster season. Darnold has picked up where he left off following his breakout 2024 season, as he currently ranks 3rd in the NFL in passing yards at 1,541. JSN gets an entertaining matchup next week as he is likely to draw plenty of coverage from Texans’ CB Derek Stingley.
Bonus Observations
Rams WR Davante Adams — Davante Adams and Matthew Stafford have had a couple of throws each game where they just haven’t been on the same page. I think Adams could see more targets closer to the line of scrimmage if Puka Nacua misses time, and would expect them to figure it out sooner rather than later. Adams hauled in just 4 out of 9 targets for 39 yards in Week 6, but will likely see a bump in targets with Nacua potentially missing time.
Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr. — BTJ is back. He took up the mantle of duelling Jaxon Smith-Njigba this week after JSN and Emeka Egbuka lit up the scoreboard last week. Maybe that’s a top secret edge: just start the opposing WR1 to JSN. BTJ was targeted 10 times as the first read in Week 6, leading to easily his best game with 8 catches for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Titans QB Cam Ward — Brian Callahan’s offense wasn’t working, and while he deserves a ton of blame, I don’t see where the fix will come from. Just about everything looks broken on that offense, and Cam Ward has had too many plays where an unblocked pass-rusher is on him too quickly. But even when he has more time, he’s drifting too far back in the pocket and not getting the ball out quickly enough. They’ve tried a lot of designed screens but they have been very ineffective and could really use a receiver who can create after the catch. Ward’s rookie season is off to an abysmal start as he has posted poor rates of 70.3% ADJ COMP, 46.0% ACC, and 20.3% OFF.
Panthers RB Rico Dowdle — Never Doubt Dowdle. Rico Dowdle took the revenge game narrative to a new level with 239 total yards and 1 touchdown. Week 6 was Dowdle’s second straight game with over 200 total yards, and he has forced an insane 11 missed tackles in the past two weeks.
