Thursday Night Football

It’ll easily be the most exciting Thursday Night Football matchup of the season when the Seahawks host the Cardinals in a rematch of Week 7. Unfortunately, the reliability of our options are somewhat limited with a litany of questionable designations for Tyler Lockett, Chris Carson, Travis Homer, and Kenyan Drake. Carlos Hyde is apparently ready to go after missing the last three weeks. However, we have no way of knowing if it’ll be him, Alex Collins, Deejay Dallas, or even Carson or Homer that’ll take chunks of the backfield share. With all of that in mind, my focus centers around DeAndre Hopkins facing off with the most lenient pass defense in the history of the NFL after nine games. When these teams met in Week 7, Hopkins collected 10-of-12 targets for 103 yards, and a TD. “Nuk” will need to avoid a trend of trading off down games with monster outings over his last six, but he’s been extremely consistent going up against Cover 3 shells over his career. With his ability to identify the zone gaps and Kyler Murray’s full attention, I’m taking the over on Hopkins for 5.5 receptions (85 points), and the over for 89.5 receiving yards (100 points). Good luck with your Thursday picks, enjoy the game! — Wes Huber

What a week of primetime games the NFL has lined up for us this week with the Chiefs and the Raiders squaring off in a pivotal matchup for the AFC playoffs before the Rams and the Buccaneers take center stage on Monday Night Football in a key NFC showdown. Before we get to those great games, we could have the game of the week on Thursday Night Football between the Cardinals and the Seahawks. They’ve already thrilled us once in Week 7 on Sunday Night Football with the Cardinals holding serve at home in a 37-34 overtime victory. This matchup has the week’s largest total sitting at 57 points, and I’m looking at some overs in what should be a high-scoring affair. Carlos Hyde is expected to lead Seattle’s backfield and his prop looks like a free square tonight. I’m taking Carlos Hyde over 35.5 rushing and receiving yards (105 pts) as his rushing total alone sits in the mid-50s at most sportsbooks. I may as well take Hyde over .5 rushing and receiving TDs (115 pts) since he’ll be the top goal-line back for a team that has an implied team total of 30 points. I’m also looking at D.K. Metcalf over 76.5 receiving yards (90 pts) coming off his quiet performance against the Rams last week. The Seahawks screwed up not getting him more involved in their loss and I think they’ll rectify that mistake early this week, especially with Tyler Lockett potentially playing at less than 100%. I can’t wait for tonight’s game and good luck with your picks! — Tom Brolley

Sunday Games

Plenty of value lurking in the Week 11 slate. We’ll begin with the Vikings hosting the Cowboys as TD favorites. Dallas has allowed opposing RBs to average the second-most rushing yards (157.0) and third-highest pure rushing FPG this season (18.0). With 91, 61, and 94 percent carry shares the last three games, Dalvin Cook has rushed for at least 96 yards in five of his last six. He fell just short of 120.5 total yards last week at Chicago, but exceeded that total in four of his previous five. Facing the generous Cowboys’ defense, I’m taking the over on Cook for 120.5 total yards (95 points). It’s true that the Raiders have permitted the 13th-highest FPG to opposing offenses (95.2), but they’ve held RBs to the 13th-fewest rushing YPG (112.7). After rushing for 46, 21, and 14 yards in prime spots against the Broncos, Jets, and Panthers, respectively, we already have results from Kansas City facing the Raiders. In that game, Clyde Edwards-Helaire was only able to manage 40 yards in Week 5. With Johnathan Abram recently activated from the reserve/COVID19 list, I’m taking the under on Edwards-Helaire for 63.5 rushing yards (85 points). The biggest takeaway from that Week 5 contest was that the Raiders offense scored 32 points, forcing the Chiefs’ offense to air it out. With nothing being gained on the ground, Patrick Mahomes’ passing success has been the entirety of the Kansas City offense. We can look past his 225 yards passing in Week 6 playing in extreme Buffalo weather. The pathetic Denver offense provided Mahomes with early rest in Week 7. Averaging 394.5 passing yards in his last two (43.5 attempts/game) -- including 340 against Lasd Vegas in Week 5, I’m taking the over on Mahomes for 306.5 passing yards (100 points). Good luck with your Sunday picks, enjoy the action! — Wes Huber

The Saints are the talk of the league with Sean Payton deciding to start Taysom Hill over Jameis Winston this week with Drew Brees heading to the injured reserve for the next three games. Hill is averaging 20.7 rushing yards per game while playing 16.6 snaps per game through nine games. He’s also thrown just 18 career passes over three seasons for a healthy 205 yards (11.4 YPA) but, obviously, we’re dealing with a sample size. I still like Taysom Hill over 215.5 passing and receiving yards this week if he’s truly going to be given most of the snaps this week against the friendliest fantasy defense for quarterbacks. I’m viewing Hill as a Cam Newton type of fantasy player for the time being with a hint less of rushing touchdown upside. Sticking with that game, I’ll look at Hayden Hurst over 36.5 receiving yards as Hurst has been heating up over the last month. He has 4+ catches and 54+ yards in his last four games, and Jordan Reed posted 5/62 receiving against the Saints last week. For my last prop, I’m taking Damien Harris over 66.5 rushing yards against a Texans run defense that’s allowed 230+ rushing yards to three different teams this season. The Patriots did activate Sony Michel off of the injured reserve this week, but they would be silly to take Harris off of the field as he’s averaged more than 5.0 YPC in five of his six games this season. Good luck this week and enjoy the action! — Tom Brolley

Monday Night Football

We have the pleasure of an excellent Monday Night Football clash with the Buccaneers hosting the Rams as four-point home favorites. As I outlined inAdvanced Matchups, Brady will be facing an uphill battle against Jalen Ramsey, Los Angeles’ Cover 4 and 6 defense. When Brady has been opposed by a Cover 4 on 11 percent of dropbacks over his last 27 games, his air yards/attempt drops by 12 percent. Against Cover 6 on 11 percent of snaps, Brady has exhibited an alarming nine percent decrease in YPA. Only one QB has thrown for 290-plus yards against the Rams this season (Josh Allen in Week 3). I am all over the under on Brady for 290.5 passing yards (105 points). On the other side for LAR, Cooper Kupp has scored the sixth-highest fantasy points/route when facing Cover 1 shells. He’s generated 34 percent of his yardage over the last two seasons against Cover 1 on only 23 percent of routes. Tampa Bay can be expected to play Cover 1 on 28 percent of snaps, Cover 3 on 30 percent, and Cover 4 on 15 percent. Kupp has been right around average facing Cover 3, but his air yardage/target increases by 20 percent against Cover 4. Running two-thirds of snaps from the slot, Kupp should face a ton of Sean Murphy-Bunting and his 120.6 passer rating when targeted. I really don’t even care if Carlton Davis or Jamal Dean randomly covered him, I’m taking the over on Kupp for 55.5 receiving yards (90 points). Let’s all have a great Monday evening of football, I wish you the best of luck! — Wes Huber
