2025 Week 2 NFL Fantasy Injury Preview

Follow Dr. Edwin Porras on his fantasy football account here and see what his day job is in the Denver area

Brock Purdy - Shoulder/Toe

Purdy is (likely) dealing with a turf toe issue. The 49ers aren’t necessarily conservative with injuries, and in 2020, Patrick Mahomes played an entire season with turf toe that needed surgery. Unless we hear more, consider Purdy slightly more volatile than usual but expect him to go.

Projected Return: Week 2

Drake London - AC Joint

The “day-to-day” tag implies this won’t be a multi-week absence for now. As of today, he’ll likely give it a go (barring crazy MRI results). Expect a dip in YAC from London this year compared to his average.

Projected Return: Week 2

Brock Bowers - Knee

Bowers told reporters he is fine and there are no concerns moving forward. Once he’s back at practice, lock in Week 2 for him.

Projected Return: Week 2

George Kittle - Hamstring

Kittle has been dealing with this hamstring issue dating back to 2017. Now that he’s aging, this isn’t a surprise. With SF ruling him out so soon, the worst-case scenario for Kittle is an IR stint. Expect him out for at least 2 weeks.

UPDATE: Kittle has been placed on IR and will miss four games, minimum.

Projected Return: Week 5-6

Xavier Worthy - Shoulder

Hit by friendly fire (ran into Travis Kelce) that resulted in a shoulder dislocation. Remember, guys like Darnell Mooney and Dalvin Cook have played through worse versions of this injury. Expect a 2-4 week absence for rehab, and Worthy will likely give it a go sooner rather than later. This is an injury that previously sidelined Tee Higgins and Jaylen Waddle for 2-3 weeks.

Projected Return: Week 5-6

Jauan Jennings - Shoulder

Ditto mark the injury for Jennings and Worthy. Even though Ian Rapaport says the shoulder injury is not serious, the 49ers are still ordering a CT for him, which will serve to assess the shoulder joint more thoroughly. In other words, they’re looking through it with a fine-tooth comb.

Projected Return: Week 5-6

Evan Engram - Calf

Calf injuries are tricky. If Engram doesn’t practice this week, prepare for him to be out for at least two weeks.

Projected Return: Week 4-6

Projected Returns

Chris Godwin - Ankle Fracture

Projected Return: Week 5

Brandon Aiyuk - ACL

Projected Return: Week 5
