Scottish Open FanDuel Values

The Scottish Open, formerly a European Tour only event, makes its debut this year on the PGA Tour. Both tour’s have combined their players to create a very strong field from top to bottom. Being the week before the Open Championship, a lot of the world's top players will already be making the trip over to Scotland.

Past Winners

2021 Min Woo Lee (-18)

2020 Aaron Rai (-11)

2019 Bernd Wiesberger (-22)

Each of the past three Scottish Open’s above were hosted at the Renaissance Club. Aaron Rai’s win in 2020 is an outlier in terms of difficulty, as it was played during the first week of October. The other two both fell on the second week of July, and played noticeably easier. With the field being as strong as it is, we should expect the winning score to be -20 or lower. The course is a par 71 that will play just under 7,300 yards. For a more in-depth look at the course, make sure to check out Hunter’s Event and Course Preview.

Lucas Herbert $9,700

If you want a horse for the course, look no further than Lucas Herbert. He’s finished T4 in each of the past two Scottish Opens at the Renaissance Club. Herbert was over this way last week for the Irish Open, where he finished in a tie for ninth. He led the field in SG around the green, ranked eighth in SG tee to green, and 12th in driving distance. Herbert has been elite with his short game all season long, which will bode well for him again this week. Over the past three months on the PGA Tour, Herbert ranks inside the field's top 30 in both driving distance and birdie or better. While the price may seem a bit inflated, Herbert is a solid play this week where he has had plenty of success in years past.

Luke List $8,400

Already a winner earlier this season at the Farmers Insurance Open. We most recently saw List at the Travelers Championship, where he had literally everything but the putter. He finished in a tie for 19th, leading the field from tee to green, and on approach. Not only did he lead the field in these two categories, he nearly lapped the field, gaining over 10 strokes in each. After hitting a mini-slump after his win in January, List has now made three of his past four cuts. Over the past 12 rounds, List ranks inside the field’s top 10 in ball stringing, SG off the tee, and driving distance.

Sebastian Soderberg $7,100

Currently ranked 32nd in the DP World Tour Rankings, and 197th in the OWGR. Sebastian Soderberg played in last week’s Irish Open, finishing in a tie for 46th. In his T46, Soderberg led the field in approach. His 66 he shot in the second round last week was the round of the day. Prior to last week, his most recent event was the US Open, where he was just one over through the first two rounds. Soderberg finished in a tie for 53rd after a round-three 78 derailed his week. Since the beginning of May, Sodderberg has managed a pair of top five finishes on the DP Wolrd Tour as well. This stretch began with a solo 2nd place finish at the British Masters, then three weeks later he finished T5 at the Dutch Open. Just $100 above the FanDuel minimum, Soderberg is a nice value this week.
